The Fujitsu Arrows Tab F-01D has recently been released in Japan. Its specs include a 10 inch screen with 1280 x 800 resolution, a 1 GHz TI OMAP4430 dual core processor, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage.
Although some Android tablets do not run Google?s proper tablet OS ? 3.2 honeycomb ? this one does.
What makes this tablet unique among its competitors is its rugged construction that makes it waterproof. The composite material that encases the tablet, along with the actual screen itself, is able to handle water and fluid exposure ? key traits that would make it ideal for the hospital setting. In the past, we?ve written about how key form factors might make Android tablets more attractive than iPads, and this tablet could be a great example of this.
This device may also be coming to America. According to a recent FCC filing, the waterproof tablet appears to be taking the necessary steps in order to be certified for use on American shores. This FCC filing is one of the beginning step in the process for releasing a product in America that has wireless capabilities. However, no official confirmation from Fujitsu has been released.
Pricing is still tentative, but based on the nature of the device and pricing of tablets with similar specifications, it is safe to assume it will not be cheap.
