My I lent my freind a GPU to try out, and his mom took it round to me..... In its antistatic bag, in a Tescos bag..
I know, not a problem.
But the antistatic bag has holes in it.
Do you think the GPU is ok?
Would it short out my PC if I use it again?
Its an old one so I dont really mind.
But I would not want to loose a 8600GT 1GB that I could put in my old system.

Holes in the antistatic bag shouldn't cause a problem and the GPU is unlikely to be damaged because of of that.
If it has failed for some reason I doubt it would have failed so badly as to short anything out, and in any case PSUs generally have short circuit protection: it would either fail to start up at all or shut down immediately after doing so.

So I should be safe to use it?

Ok, thanks.
One thing though, I did used to have a Nvidia 8500 GT 512Mb in it but it kept blue screening and shutting off.
But then I took it out and put bakc in the 7500 LE 256mb.
Im wondering if the 8500 GPU was bust.
I wonder if the 8600 GT 1gB will work in it.
The PSU is 300 Watts.
PC Specs:
3 GB ram
Nvidia Geforce 7500 LE 256Mb
160GB HDD
DVD LightScribe drive.
Celeron D x2 2.8

The only thing that lets this awesome machine down is the GPU really.
