That means almost a quarter of this state is obese! ?What?s worse is this number just keeps climbing. ?Now you may look at other states and see some of them at almost 33%. ?Do not feel good about that because if we don?t start changing things here in California, we?ll be there very soon. ?Let?s really look at this number. ?In 2010, California?s population was?37,253,956. ?A quarter of that is 9,313,489 people. ?That?s almost 3 times the population of Los Angeles in 2010.

Here are some of the consequences of being obese:

Coronary Heart Disease
Type 2 Diabetes
Cancers (endometrial, breast, and colon)

Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
Dyslipidemia (for example, high total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides)
Stroke

Liver and Gallbladder disease
Sleep apnea and respiratory problems
Osteoarthritis (a degeneration of cartilage and its underlying bone within a joint)
Gynecological problems (abnormal menses, infertility)
