SIOUX CITY -- A three-run rally in the top of the seventh lifted Le Mars past Class 1A No. 3 Hinton by a 4-2 margin in the first game of the Sioux City West Early Bird tournament Friday.With one out in the top of the seventh, Hinton starter Shawnee Miller issued a walk to Mary Kate Eckstaine. Madison Heidebrink reached on a throwing error and moved to second as Eckstaine moved to third.
Erica Westhoff singled Eckstaine home, Heidebrink scored on a passed ball and Westhoff scored on an error.

Molly Renken was the winning pitcher, allowing two unearned runs on two hits. The sophomore struck out eight and walked two in the complete-game effort.Jesse Poss and Brylee Schindel each singled for Hinton while Schindel scored both of the Blackhawks' runs.
Miller suffered the loss in the circle, allowing four runs - one earned - on four hits and four walks. She struck out five in the loss.
Westhoff, Renken, Emily Ellefson and Ashley Phelan had hits for Le Mars.
The Blackhawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead with a single run in the third and the fifth innings. Schindel scored on a passed ball in both innings.
Le Mars cut its deficit in half in the top of the sixth as Phelan's triple scored Jordan Heidebrink.
Hinton 12, Westwood 7
The Blackhawks bounced back from their loss to the Lady Bulldogs to knock off Class 1A No. 9 Westwood 12-7 in the second game of the day Friday.
On Saturday, Hinton dropped a 7-0 decision to Sioux City East before defeating Sioux City West 12-2. Statistics were unavailable.
Le Mars 14, Kingsley-Pierson 0 (3)
Le Mars starter Erin Kommes tossed three innings of perfect softball as the Lady Bulldogs collected their second win of the day. The sophomore fanned four in the win.
The Lady Bulldogs plated 14 runs on 10 hits and five walks to defeat Kingsley-Pierson 14-0 in three innings.
Ellefson led the squad with a 3-for-3 performance that included a double, three RBI and two runs scored.
Phelan went 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored.
Renken, Jordan Heidebrink and Madison Heidebrink each singled while Eckstaine had an RBI double in the second inning.
The Lady Panthers bounced back to post a 10-0, five-inning win over Sioux City West on Friday. K-P defeated Lawton-Bronson 12-1 and lost a 12-2 decision to Westwood on Saturday. Statistics were unavailable.
Le Mars 17, West 0
The Lady Bulldogs pelted Sioux City West for 17 hits in a 17-0, three-inning win Saturday at the Wolverines' tournament.
Jordan Heidebrink struck out four in three innings of two-hit softball.
Madison Heidebrink went 3-for-3 with two triples and two RBI to lead the Lady Bulldogs.
Kommes went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI and two runs scored while Ellefson was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
Phelan and Jordan Heidebrink were each 2-for-2 at the plate while Eckstaine went 2-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Holly Schneider went 1-for-1 with three runs scored and an RBI. Her hit was a double.
Renken, Emily Pick and Jacelle Neill each singled for Le Mars.
East 9, Le Mars 4
The Lady Bulldogs ended the tournament with a 9-4 loss to Class 4A No. 5 Sioux City East.
Renken suffered the loss in the circle, allowing nine runs - seven earned - on 11 hits and one walk. The sophomore fanned three in the complete-game effort.
Ellefson led the offensive attack with a 2-for-4 performance that included a triple, an RBI and one run scored.
Kommes, Phelan, Pick, Jordan Heidebrink and Madison Heidebrink each singled in the loss.
